Our story

From a single boat to the whole of Egypt

MARSA began in 1997 at the old marina in Hurghada: one wooden boat, a box of snorkel masks and a captain who knew every reef by name. Guests came back the following year, and brought their friends.

Today we run a full programme of day trips: islands, dolphins and coral reefs on the Red Sea, jeep and camel safaris in the Eastern Desert, and early-morning drives to the temples of Luxor and the pyramids of Giza. The idea has not changed: small groups, fair prices and people who are proud to show you their home.

Our journey since 1997

1997
One boat, one reef
Our first snorkelling trips leave the old Hurghada marina: a single wooden boat with twelve seats and a captain who knows every reef.
2003
Into the desert
Jeep safaris and evenings at a Bedouin camp join the programme, with sweet tea and bread baked in the sand.
2008
To the Nile Valley
The first day trips to Luxor: Karnak, the Valley of the Kings and lunch by the Nile, led by Egyptologist guides.
2014
Six languages
The guiding team grows to cover English, German, Russian, Italian, French and Arabic on every route.
2019
Cairo and Giza
Day trips to the pyramids and the Egyptian Museum bring the whole country within reach of Hurghada.
Today
